Second Annual Rubicon Adventure -- July ‘99

EBE Does the ‘Con…

We have been anticipating this run for a year. No other trail on the West Coast is veiled in more myth, legend, rumor or speculation. The plan was to lay all this to rest. First, we needed to check off all the parts & upgrades from the list we made after last year's trip. For these we turned to some of the premier Early Bronco vendors around: James Duff Ent, B.C. Broncos (and Max needed last-minute exhaust repairs in Corvallis at All 4 Fun Four Wheel Drive ) to make our Early Broncos ready to tackle the most demanding 18 miles of off-road driving in America – The Rubicon. Then we heard that the Second Annual Rubicon Roundup was cancelled!! Well the Staff at Early Bronco Entertainment decided to do it anyway.

After the over 700 mile drive from WA, picking up Broncos along the way, we pulled in to Al & Virginia Hamilton’s ranch near Placerville on Sunday afternoon to park the tow rigs and relax before heading out early Monday morning. Of course once the Broncos were free of their hitches, who could resist a little pre-run play? Al has this big chunk of granite in the yard that we now affectionately call the "Alicon." Quinn and Roger took the opportunity to get tangled up on the rock and Roger promptly broke a hub actuator on his new Warn FF rear end. The Alicon has yet to be conquered!
