Ok I need to know some of the tricks to getting the rusted and broken bolts
out of the heads from my manifolds. The headers on my 74 (302)are rusted
through in a couple of places and I started trying pull them and they started
breaking off so I stopped. I don't want to have to pull my motor or my heads
to correct these broken studs and bolts. A guy at work says to weld a nut on
the stud (if it's got enough to weld to) with an arc welder. He said it gets
it hot enough to expand but not hot enough to lose it's strength. When it
cools he said to use PB blaster or some type of penetrating oil on it and let
it sit over night and they are fairly easy to get out. Has anyone ever tried
this and does it work? Is there and easier way? I have a broken stud on my
78 also and I really don't want to mess with the 351M. Any help I could get
would be greatly appreciated.
