Bingo...give that man a beer!
Funny thing is I told him not to forget to hook the vacuum line back up to the MAP sensor when we pulled the engine out...then we both forgot about it when we put it in the Bronco! D'oh!
Thanks for the help, it's running much better now.

MAP sensor vac line hooked up? I may be wrong, but its easy to try. IIRC SD uses MAP with a vac line, Mass Air uses a BAP sensor, no line. That can cause an extreme rich cond at idle if its seeing barometric pressure (~ WOT) instead of strong vac.

Subject: [BFix] EFI Help
Hello all,
I'm helping a buddy do an EFI swap. He is using a 1988 Mustang 5.0L HO (non-MAS air). He got the motor from a crashed Stang and it ran like a top with the car. We've got it swapped over and the wiring hooked up and the engine starts but runs really bad. It stumbles really bad and pours black smoke out the left bank and will not idle very good, almost like it is running to rich. It has been timed to 10* w/the spout unplugged, he put a new dist. and mod. in it, and TAB & TPS. He did not put the EGR back on or the purge container. WE have found no vacuum leak such as open ports or hoses on the intake. We are 99% sure the wiring is correct and will be checking that tomorrow. What more should I be looking for?
TIA for any info,
Ken
