I was wondering when I would hear from you on this.

Do you really think that the American Revolution and the subsequent "War for
Independence" is even remotely germane to this discussion? Apples and
oranges.

If you would like to do a comparison I feel that the South's secession from
the union is a better corollary as it contains similar issues.

Both examples were the result of having exhausted all other recourse to
solve their grievances.

A more current example would the "State of Jefferson Initiative" that is
brought about every few years and would combine portions of Northern California
and Southern Oregon to become the 51st State. I whole heartedly support that
initiative up to the point of bearing arms against my government.

The need for the members of an established democracy to take up arms to
unseat the current power of an existing nation is ridiculous. The resulting civil
war would do more harm than any good that would be achieved.

Ever heard of a little thing called the American Revolution? I'm sure
all the loyal Tories felt the same way as you about those whacko freedom
seeking colonists.
