I added a crossover to my 93 GMC k3500 6.5TD when I replaced the injection
pump last month. The have a reputation for running hot, so I figured what
the heck. It makes HEAT a lot faster and got rid of the quick disconnect
heater line crap GM came up with. Added a high output water pump and two
3000 cfm electric fans, one comes on at 180, the other around 195, or when
the AC is on. You can watch the coolant temp drop when the fan kicks on.
Been fun spending the tax return on my first diesel. I upgraded to marine
injectors, added 4" mandrel bent exhaust, 2.25 mandrel bent crossover, built
my own adjustable wastegate controller (need a heavier spring though, the
Grock 19 recoil spring only lets the turbo spool to about 6.5 psi). I tapped
the intake for the two stage water/methanol injection system I plan to build
soon. It feels like I have picked up about 75 hp so far, and the turbo is
spooling from idle. Now that I have it back up and running, I am back on the
'66/'75 project.
