[BFix] Never Use Lock Washers-Crank Pulley Question

Hello,
Hey don't ever use lock washers on anything--including your lawnmower! If you need a fastener to be secure in a blind bolt hole then use a loc-tite or similiar compound. Just like Jack mentioned the other split and then the torque value placed on the fastener is totally compromised. That goes for bolting two pieces together --flat washers on either side of the pieces-- the bolt goes through and a lock nut either nylon or metal is used. There is a reason no professional race cars or the space shuttle has not lock washers.

Matt

Generally speaking I don't like lock washers. They split and leave you with a very loose bolt. That's just me though. How about safety wire? :)

Hey all, Got a dumb crank pulley question for ya. When Eric N (gotta love that guy..he's everywhere..and always there when u need him) and I assembled my 351w we used steel pulleys and no split washers on the crank pulley. Now that I'm putting the WildHorses hard anodized aluminum ones on I'm asking my self if there should be a lock washers on the crank pulley? thanks for the input,MickThis e-mail is covered by the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, 18U.S.C.
