Yeah, I've seen the race pack gauge cluster.  Pretty slick!  My buddy is using one on his new buggy.  It's cool for saving space but I like the look of all the individual gauges...

Subject: [BFix] Engine gauges

Jack,
The gauges sure look cool and the ones you mention have to be the choice for individual gauges. I really like the warning features. A lot simpler than my method of extra idiot lights beside a standard gauge using additional switches for temp & press.
Have you ever looked at a Racepac dash? All electronic with all the warning set points. Seems to me that it works the issue of limited EB dash space? For the racer the data logger or playback is also attractive. I got a briefing last time I was in El Cajon from the shop next door that is installing the Racepac in pre-runners and race trucks. I was impressed.
I have also been looking at the EIS which many of the home built airplane guys use. Its got EGT that would go unused for an efi auto engine. Price is good.
Both the Racepac & EIS are less cost than a full panel of gauges.

For the electronic dash I was considering adding a conventional tach and speedo to go with the monitor.

The goal for the airplane guys is to minimize the amount of things that the pilot has to monitor. These electronic systems eliminate the gauges but flash up a display & warning light when a parameter goes out of range based on the set points chosen. I thought it would be applicable for a racer.  Meaning pay attention to driving not monitoring the engine/tranny.

Nice discussion on the merits of the gauges.

Hi guys. Just thought I'd let you guys know the man in brown delivered a box of really cool high tech gauges to me today!!!

These gauges are REALLY nice. They have a white face that goes black when the lights are on. They also have adjustable alarm modes that allow you to wire in warning lights.

If you guys aren't familiar w/ this company, check them out. http://www.nordskogperformance.com
