Here are some quick pics that I just took. Hope they help. Ask if you
need clarification.

Hmm...I beg to differ. My 5.8 uses FMC's shorty headers for the GT40P
heads and I would assume that they don't differ from the standard shorty
headers that much, but I don't know fer sure.

The first muffler shop I went to couldn't do it, but he sent me
someplace to a guy who does a lot of Mustangs, and he bent me up some
nice tubes and they clear the frame rails very well. Give me 30 minutes
and I'll post some pics.

The problem is that you can't make the bend that close to the collector
flare. Solution is to cut out some of the material between the
collector
flare and bend, then weld it together so the bend is now close to the
collector. Piece of cake with a 351W.

Has anyone had a problem with shorty headers and the passenger side
frame
interfering??

I am almost done with my 351 W rebuild and was replacing the headers
with
shorties. I mounted them this weekend and being under the truck hooking
up
tranny and starter, noticed the passenger side header looks awful close
to
the frame rail.

Can a muffler shop fit the flange and bend the pipe in that little
area????

HELP anyone....

Thanks

Hey Bob that's pretty trick how you mounted your gauges in the back of
the hood bubble. If its not too inconvenient, could you post a picture
of how they look from the driver's seat with the hood down? Also, what
hood is that? Thanks!

Thanks, I don't know who made the hood, I didn't buy it new. I've
uploaded a few pics, so maybe someone else can identify it. As far as
the gauges, right now, they are cheap Sunpro, but replacing them with
whiteface FMS gauges is on my list. Just tach, oil press, temp and
volts, but I'll be adding more. Viewing is good from drivers seat.

The bubble is one piece, part of the hood, just looks like an add on
because it's painted black.

I've often thought that would be a good way to mount a fuel pressure
gauge without having to buy that spendy high pressure isolator. On some
hoods it looks like it would place the gauges too low and close to the
bottom of the windshield frame to be easy to read, but with your hood it
looks alright. Thanks for posting the pix!
