Just saw the following ad in the paper.
For Sale---
1969 4x4 Condor Motor Home. Built for Baja.
460 V8, Carr C6 transmission, and so forth, and so on.
$15,000.00, OBO.
808-742-9835, or 99-422-7518.
What a tow rig this would make for your Bronco.
Good luck,
UB

There was a company that made Condor Motor Homes. They were built on
Ford Chassis with Ford running gear including add on 4x capabilities.
The owner and the sales manager for the company were off road racing
fans, and friends of Bill Stroppe. Bill built them one or more of the
Condor Motor homes for off road race use, and these two guys raced in
Baja, and the Mint 400. Bill was so adept at what he did that one of
the motor homes had a full roll cage built in between the inside and
outside skins if memory serves. Bill even installed a seat belt on the
toilet. It was a neat rig to see go as it had plenty of HP, and could
zip right along. Obviously it couldn't run as quick as the smaller
"real" off road racers(and this Condor was a full blown race rig). The
two guys loaded the refer with cool drinks and would stop along the
course wherever a race car was broken, and give the people there cold
drinks.
At the Mint 400 they'd make one lap which took them a fair amount of
time, and as they'd cross the finish line they'd blow a siren, turn on
their flashing lights on the roof, and pop a pink drag chute. A couple
of real fun guys. The last time I remember them at the Mint was in '72 I
think.
We should try and get Todd Zuercher to do an article on the Condor.
I have to wonder if this Condor that is for sale could possibly be one
of the rigs Stroppe did?
I have a picture of the Condor somewhere if you'd like me to scan it to
you.
Way more info than you probably wanted.

There's a rumor that at one of the Baja races those two guys donned
Tuxedo's somewhere b4 the finish line and got out of the MH looking
spiffy and ready to party!

They were strong machines. I thought about calling on it, and then
thought nah. Don't need it. Want maybe. Need no. I've got a motor
home now I don't use like I should.
Whoever buys it will be getting a good one I imagine.
