Stretched Body Bronco

Post by venom » Fri Jul 05, 2002 2:01 pm

I have been contemplating stretching my Bronco for more wheelbase and interior room. Here are some pics that I have gathered in my search for ideas on how much to stretch and what it will look like. This group is of a guy who I had never heard of until I did a pretty extensive web search. The guy's name is Dave Burling and he is involved in the UROC competitions, specifically the Vernal, UT one last year. I found some pics of him on the UROC site and his club page, Color Country 4 Wheelers.
http://www.4x44u.com/events4u/ColorCoun ... index.html
There was also some footage of his vehicle on the Hammerdown video that I bought recently. One of the pics is again of Dave Burling's Bronco, but I had Thom Cheney do some Photoshop work on it to see what it would look like in one color (purple, of course). Dave's Bronco is stretched 18", BTW.

Its a hell of a lot better than the digital work Thom Cheney does... and he calls himself an artist...

My trash only takes me a few minutes. You told me you "worked" three straight days in your underwear on that Stroppe stretch job. I just told you it looked good so you wouldn't get all depressed and drink yourself stupid again.

Another Real Stretched Bronco

Post by venom » Tue Aug 20, 2002 9:18 pm

I found this pic while perusing the Oklahoma Classic Bronco web site tonight. I'll have to see if I can get more info or pics of it. It looks pretty well done. Any one know whose this is? It has an interesting rear wheel well opening too.

Karl Bradley's New Stretched Bronco

Post by venom » Tue Dec 31, 2002 8:50 pm

I was looking at Nick Hopman's pics of the 2002 Fawl Krawl and spotted Karl Bradley's new 12" stretched Bronco. It is really nicely done and well proportioned. Perhaps he'll fill us in on some of the construction details.

ford designed a late bronco stretch model called the bronco centaurion. you should look at those for ideas. I know you are working on an e.b. but it could help with ideas.

1/2 doors-

Post by el viejo » Wed Jun 25, 2003 4:36 pm

A buddy of mine is doing a 18 inch stretched bronco with 1/2 size original doors that are like the late model trucks - suicide for the rear and normal up front. He's putting this thing on a serious airbag set up that drops him to just a little below stock height to a whopping 4-6 inch raised height. The only thing that I don't like is that he's putting huge 20 inch rims on it.
The 1/2 size doors we'll be nice if they work, because we are going to try to put it on my bronco for rear seat access.

I'm stretchin mine next week!

Post by broncomaidenxxx » Thu Apr 21, 2005 7:13 pm

This is my plan: installing a half cab and stretching the chasis and body 25 inches and turning it into a real pick up truck!
My main concern is if such a long body needs a gap between the cab and the bed for flex, or should it be all rigth just to extend the body and keep it one piece body bed?
Has anyone actually done the stretch?
I´m not going to spend any time on the computer drawing my stretched Bronco, I have the oxy torch in my hand and just can't wait more to chop this thing by the middle. Please help before it´s too late.

This is my truck version of my Bronco, this is a computer draft, but I'll actually start modifying my Bromco in a couple of weeks.
Please give your opinion and make suggestions befor it´s too late.

That looks pretty good, I didnt think it would when it was first described but it does. What is that, like an early Ranger bed? Its an awful lot of work for a little bit more bed room and will kill the resale value though. Id leave it alone and get another beater truck to use myself
